KB User's Guide - SitePref Tab - Site Javascripts

You must have full user permissions for your space to perform these steps.

While a common Javascript applies across all KB subsites, the Site Javascripts screen allows each KB site to apply/remove Javascript to their internal and/or external sites.

  1.  The JavaScripts link can be found in the left navigation bar in the SitePref tab.

The image below shows the JavaScripts link highlighted with a red box.

  2. Once you click the JavaScripts link, you will be led to the Site Javascripts screen where you will see three text entry fields:

    • Javascripts for Internal Site
    • Javascripts for External Site
    • Javascripts for KB Admin Tools

  3. Click your cursor into one of the JavaScript text fields.

Please know that when you are creating/ modifying your script, opening and closing script tags (<script>...</script>) do not need to be included as the KB system automatically inserts these tags when the javascripts are loaded.

  4. You may enter javascripts into Javascripts for Internal Site and/or Javascripts for External Site. Scripts can be applied to one site or or both internal and external.

This way, your KB Group do not have to worry about including JavaScript in every document where it will be used. Nor will the UW KB Team have to necessarily incorporate JavaScript globally, when it may only desired on one KB site.

  5. By entering javascript into the Javascripts for the KB Admin Tools field allows your subsite to replicate any JavaScript functionality when previewing documents.

  6. Click on the Update button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
