This document covers frequently asked questions for Office 365.
What is Office 365?
Microsoft Office 365 is a suite of productivity software delivered and accessed over the Internet.
Do students need to purchase Office 365?
No, Microsoft is hosting the application and is free to use. To access Office 365 please go to the portal page: http://portal.microsoftonline.com The login information needed is your full student email "email@example.com" and your password.
What are the benefits of Office 365?
The Office 365 email & calendaring solution provides business-class email, calendar, and contacts to a user's computer, phone, and web browser. Delivered as a hosted service from Microsoft, it offers a high standard of physical and digital security for your information while providing the control you want and the reliability you need. Office 365 runs your email on Microsoft's globally-redundant servers, protected by built-in antivirus and anti-spam filters.
What services and features are available through Office 365?
Office 365 includes a number of online services and features. However, at this time Outlook email and calendaring will be the only available service. We anticipate offering more services in the future.
What are the System requirements?

I’m running Windows Vista or Windows XP. Will I have any limitations?
Office 365 supports Windows Vista and Windows XP for most web-based functionality. However, connectivity to the services cannot be assured while using these older Operating Systems. If you can’t upgrade to a modern operating system, please make sure you have deployed all service packs and automatic updates from Microsoft. UW Colleges Service Center recommends updating your operating system. Windows XP support will be discontinued in April of 2014.
Will Office 365 work with other versions of Office?
Office 365 works best with these locally installed versions of Office: Office 2013, Office 2010, and Office 2011 for Mac. Office 365 works with slightly limited functionality when using Office 2007. If you have an Office product older than Office 2007, you will need to update in order to use the local functions of Office 365. If you would like to upgrade or purchase a current version of Office please visit the WISC software site.
How do I reset my Office 365 account password?
Your Office 365 account password is managed on the UW Colleges network.
Changing your password should always be done through the UW Colleges portal page.
What is my mailbox quota with Office 365?
With Office 365, you will have 25GB of available email storage. Office 365 allows attachment sizes up to 25MB.
What is my email address?
Your UW Colleges email address will be a combination of your name and a generated ID followed by @students.uwc.edu. For example—if your name is Mary Jones and the last four digits of your system generated ID is 1234, your email address will be:
How do I login into Office 365?
The recommended method to access your Office 365 account is to login through the UW Colleges portal page with your username (i.e. JONEM1234) and UW Colleges password.
Office 365 is automatically signing in with the wrong account?
When using a computer that was not logged into but Office 365 still tries to use the password that was used to initially log into the computer (possibly a different student), please use this link to sign into Microsoft Online.
Am I getting two separate accounts?
After the conversion is complete, students will have two separate accounts:
1. A UW Colleges Office 365 Account - This account will be used to access your UW Colleges Office 365 email.2. A personal Microsoft account - This account will give you access to all existing personal SkyDrive content and other Microsoft services.
You'll sign into both accounts with the same email address and password. However, if you choose to change your personal SkyDrive password UWCX Service Center can’t reset this for you. The personal SkyDrive account is supported by Microsoft.

Where will I go to access my personal SkyDrive files?
To access your personal SkyDrive account, you will have to go to http://skydrive.live.com. Your login will be the same login you use for Live@edu.
SkyDrive password changes will be made through Microsoft. UWCX Service Center will be unable to change the personal SkyDrive password.
Can I forward or redirect my mail to another account?
Yes, by following the steps provided in How to forward email in Office 365, you can easily have mail redirected to any account you choose.
Are faculty and staff using Office 365 accounts?
Yes, faculty and staff are using Office 365.
What if I delete an item from my Deleted Items folder by mistake?
When you delete a message it is moved to your Deleted Items folder. If you empty or delete the message from your Deleted Items folder you have up to 14 days to restore that item. By highlighting and right clicking the Deleted Items folder you will have the option to choose Recover Deleted Items.
Will Office 365 work on mobile devices?
Yes, the Office 365 email & calendaring solution will work on most mobile devices. However, the functionality of some features may be limited compared to the web version. To find out details on mobile device compatibility please visit Microsoft’s Office 365 Mobile Device Comparison Website.

Are there accessibility features in Office Web Apps?
