Password Reset | Recover Forgotten User Name
This document pertains to UW Colleges Faculty, Staff, and Students and UW Extension Faculty and Staff. Instructions to change/reset the password for their UWCX User name (NetID). Affects access to d2l, Email, PRISM, etc). Instructions to recover a forgotten User name (NetID).
NOTE: Persons of Interest, and CES County based staff who do are not on the UWEX payroll cannot use this utility. Please contact the Central ITS-Service Center for assistance. Service Center contact information is found at the end of this document.
1.Open a web browser, e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox etc., then go to the Password Reset Portal URL: https://portal.uwex.uwc.edu/reset/. The Password Reset Portal page opens.
2.Enter your User name (a.k.a. Net ID) into the "User name" dialogue box, then click Next.
UWC and UWEX Faculty and Staff user names are firstname.lastname, in most cases.
UWC Student user names are in most cases the first 4 letters of their last name (unless their last name is shorter) + the first letter of their first name + the last four digits of their PRISM EMPLID.
Example: The user name created for student John S. Colleges, EMPLID=0654321 would be: COLLJ4321.
3.Two security questions you selected during the First-time-user setup will be presented. Enter your answers exactly as they were entered when you set them up (case sensitive), then click Submit.
4.If the answers you entered match the table you will be presented with the option to select a new password.
â¢Before entering a new password, review the password security criteria documented on the webpage.
â¢Type the password you select into the "New password" dialogue box, then type the password a second time into the "Verify new password" dialogue box, and then click Submit.
5.If the password entered meets security criteria, and both match the window similar to the image below will open to notify you "Your password has been changed." Click Close to close the browser window.
7.If you are still unable to log on, please contact the Service Center. If you have an open Incident ticket please reference the ticket number when speaking with a Service Center technician.
Please also notify the Service Center that you logged on successfully, if there is an open ticket for this issue
