VPN- Access Your Work Desktop Remotely Using Firefox
This document shows how to access your work desktop remotely using VPN.
- Determine your fully qualified domain name (FQDN). This will be your Asset Tag number (ex. ADM-W400447) combined with your domain name (uwcx.net). In this example, the FQDN would be ADM-W400447.uwcx.net.
On the home page, click the drop down arrow to the right of cifs:// and instead select rdp://.When the cursor to the right of the FQDN, press Enter. Firefox should display a "Terminal server connection" screen, as shown below. If you see a "Connection Exception" message, click OK to clear it. Refresh the remote session by selecting the refresh button in your browser. The remote session window should appear as shown below. Select the Other User option and enter your username with domain (uwcx/first.last) and password. Then, click the arrow button. When you are finished working, log off the remote session by selecting Start > Log off. After the session closes, it should return you to the VPN home page. If it leaves you at the "Terminal server connection" screen instead, select the home icon in the top right.
- If you would like to access your desktop in full screen mode rather than in a web page, add your screen resolution and some additional formatting to your FQDN. For example, if your screen resolution was 1366x768, your full FQDN would be ADM-W400447.uwcx.net/?geometry=1366x768&FullScreen=true. To find your screen resolution, go to Start > Control Panel > Adjust screen resolution and look in the drop down menu next to Resolution.
