Add VPN to Firefox Allowed Sites - Mac OS X

The VPN uses https to establish the connection to the UWCX network. In order for the VPN to establish the initial connection, we first must add the URL to the Firefox Security Allowed Sites.

Open Firefox.  Click on the ‘options’ icon (as indicated by the red arrow shown below)

 A drop down menu should appear as shown below.  Select Preferences (as indicated by the red arrow shown below).



The General preferences window should appear.  Select the Security tab (as indicated by the red arrow shown below).

    

The Security tab should appear as shown below.  Select the ‘Exceptions’ button after the ‘Warn me when sites try to install add-ons’ line (as indicated by the red arrow shown below).

     

The ‘Allowed Sites – Add-ons Installation’ window should appear.  Type in https://uwcxvpn.uwex.uwc.edu/uwcx then click the ‘Allow’ button (as indicated by the red arrow shown below).

     

The VPN url should now appear under Sites with Status Allow as shown below

 

Close the ‘Allowed Sites – Add-ons Installation’ window by selecting the close button as indicated by the red arrow shown below.

 

Select the ‘Close’ button for the Security window (as indicated by the red arrow shown below). 

    

 You have now added the VPN url to the Firefox Allowed Sites.
