Upgrade to Office 2013
Office 2013, the newest version of Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), is available to CITS-supported employees through the Software Center. Users can then upgrade to Office 2013 when it is convenient for them.
Before you download Office 2013:
- The upgrade process can take twenty to forty minutes. Therefore, we recommend that users begin the upgrade process before they leave for a period of time – over a lunch break, before a meeting, or when they leave the office for the day.
- Your “Recent Documents" will be forgotten after installation. Don’t worry, your files are safe! However, your recently opened files will not appear automatically after opening an Office application for the first time. Please, make sure you know where your frequently opened files are saved before installing.
- Users must close all open documents and applications before beginning the installation process. Open applications will close without any warning during the process. Additionally, after the installation is completed, Windows will automatically restart without the user’s consent.
- Your new applications will look quite different, but will fundamentally behave the same. For this reason, Microsoft has provided training courses in the form of concise videos and webinars. We recommend that you bookmark the link to these training courses, which can be opened here.
