Qualtrics - Previewing a Survey

This article discusses how to see what a Qualtrics survey will look like before making it live and distributing it to users.

Qualtrics is a web-based Survey Service administered by the CITS Learning Technology team.

All users in the UW Colleges and UW Extension network can create a Qualtrics survey account.

When designing a survey in Qualtrics, you may want to see what they survey would look like to your users before you make it available to them. To do this, you use the Preview Survey feature.

Preview your survey by going to Edit > Preview Survey.

Edit > Preview Survey

This opens a live preview of the survey that you can click through, just as if it was the real thing.

Here’s an example of what a survey looks like while you’re editing it:

This is the same survey in preview mode:

The preview mode is live, so you can enter answers to each question, exactly as one of your users would.

If you submit answers to a Qualtrics survey while in preview mode, Qualtrics stores your responses alongside all of the other survey responses. See the Qualtrics – View Results and Reports KnowledgeBase article for instructions on how to use the Delete Survey Previews feature to delete results submitted from the preview.
