D2L (Brightspace) - Managing Course Notifications

This document describes how to manage your notification settings for course activity in D2L.

Note: The settings described below will apply to all of your courses in D2L, with the exception of excluded courses.

1) While logged into D2L, click on your username in the upper right-hand corner of the page to open a dropdown menu, then select Notifications.

2) Under "Contact Methods", Enable email notifications, then verify your email address is correct. If you wish to receive text message notifications, you may also register a mobile number.

3) Select the type of notifications you wish to enable:

  • Summary of Activity: Enable this option if you wish to receive a daily email summarizing the activity in your course(s).
  • Instant Notifications: Enable immediate notifications for the specific types of changes you are interested in. You may choose to receive emails and/or SMS text notifications (provided you have registered a mobile number).

4) Under "Customize Notifications", select any additional customization options you wish to enable.

5) Under "Exclude Some Courses", you can designate courses that you do not want to receive notifications for. To add courses to this section, click Manage my course exclusions and browse the courses you are enrolled in.

6) Click Save.
