Self Service Password Portal - Troubleshooting Mac Devices

Password reset scenarios seen in some Mac device configurations

Scenario 1: Password expired on an account. Attempted to sign into the apple device (The device is on the organizations domain) using a network account and existing password.

Results: Receive a reset password message‚Ķ Walk through the password reset following the on screen message. This would be very similar to an expired password experience on a network attached Microsoft device.

Scenario 2: Logged into the apple device before, so it has an existing profile for your account and have changed a password offsite or through another device/means. You comes back to the device for the first time after resetting your password.

Results: Upon logging in your may see a message stating "The system was unable to unlock your login keychain". Click "Update Keychain Password login". A login window opens, now you can login using your old login password or previously known password. The system should continue to login. Logins moving forward accept your new password, no more Keychain message displaying.
