Getting started with Proctorio
This document will provide some assistance with Proctorio, the online proctoring service in use by UWEX.
Your course should contain a document explaining how exams work for that course. Check out the "Proctoring" or "Exam" sections of your course.
To use Proctorio, you will need to use the Chrome web browser. If you are not using Chrome, please download and install it.
Once you have downloaded Chrome and installed it on your computer, you will need to follow the steps to set up Proctorio as an extension within your Chrome browser. You will only need to install the extension once.
You will know you have successfully installed the extension when you see the shield icon in the top right corner of your Chrome browser window. See image below.
To take your exam, sign into Canvas in Chrome, then click the shield icon in the top right corner of your Chrome browser (letter A, below). Then click "This can read and..." (letter B, below), and choose "On all sites" (letter C, below). You can change this setting back after you have taken your exam.
Running into problems?
- First, make sure you are using a personal computer or laptop - not a mobile device or work computer. Firewalls and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) can cause problems with the Proctorio extension.
- If you are having trouble downloading or installing the extension, please contact UWEX Tech Support for assistance and we will be happy to help.
- If you have been able to install the extension and are trying to take your exam, contact Proctorio directly by clicking the shield icon in the top right corner of your Chrome browser, then click "Live Chat" to connect to a Proctorio support agent
