First Time Canvas Log-in with Okta

Okta is the multifactor-authentication service for students accessing the Wisconsin Online Collaboratives' instance of Canvas.

You will receive a username and temporary password from your Success Coach when you are eligible to log into Canvas.
Take the provided link in that email for Canvas
Choose "Universities of Wisconsin" from the drop-down menu.
Enter the username and temporary password from the email you were sent.
You will be notified that your password has expired. Follow the on-screen instructions to change your password to meet the complexity requirements.
You will be prompted to set up Okta Verify. Click Set up.
Using your smart phone camera, scan the QR code presented.
You should see a screen similar to the image below on your phone. Click Get Started.
Your Okta account is now set up. Click Done on your phone.
Your computer screen will ask you to verify your identity. Choose to enter a code from Okta Verify or get a push notification.
- A push notification will display as a notification on your phone. Click "Yes It's Me."
- If you choose to enter a code, open the Okta app on your phone and enter the six-digit code you see displaying for myapps.Wisconsin.edu.
You will see an option to set up an email address in Okta. This will allow you to change your password if you ever lose or change your phone.
Enter your email address and click Finish.
Once you have completed set-up, you will be logged into Canvas.
